LeVar Burton Responds To Petition For Him To Be The Next Jeopardy! Host
Many people were saddened by the recent news that long-time Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek passed away. Since his passing, a debate has started online about who should be the next host of Jeopardy! and it seems that LeVar Burton is a fan favorite. LeVar Burton is an American actor who is most known for his role on Star Trek: The Next Generation and as the host of the children series Reading Rainbow. A petition was created for LeVar Burton to be the next official host of Jeopardy!. The 63-year-old actor responded to the petition via Twitter and shared his appreciation towards his fans. He tweeted,
“Even if nothing comes from it, I can’t tell how much how I appreciate all y’alls love and support!”

The petition, which currently has more than 53,000 signatures, states,
“Between hosting 21 seasons of the educational Reading Rainbow, playing the brainiac engineer Geordi La Forge on Star Trek: the Next Generation, and filling the roll of Kunta Kinte in the ever important mini-series Roots, LeVar Burton has inspired and shaped the minds of several generations of trivia-loving nerds. This petition is to show Sony Pictures Entertainment Inc. and producers Mike Richards and Harry Friedman just how much love the public has for Burton, and how much we’d all love to see him as the next host of Jeopardy!”
As we previously reported, Alex Trebek died after battling cancer this past Sunday (Nov. 8th). According to reports, he passed away at his home, surrounded by family and loved ones. Jeopardy! confirmed the news stating:
“Jeopardy! is saddened to share that Alex Trebek passed away peacefully at home early this morning, surrounded by family and friends. Thank you, Alex.”
