Chrissy Teigen Explains Why She Gave Up Alcohol: I Was Done Making An A** Of Myself In Front Of People

Update #2 (Dec. 31st): Chrissy Teigen made headlines when she told a fan she’s gone a month without alcohol. Now, she’s explaining why.

She shared a book called Quit Like A Woman on her Instagram stories and wrote:

“One month ago, on my birthday, I got this book from my doctor and friend. I was done with making an a– of myself in front of people (I’m still embarrassed), tired of day drinking and feeling like s— by 6, not being able to sleep.”

She continued:

“I have been sober ever since and even if you can’t see yourself doing it or just plain don’t want to, it’s still an incredible read.”

Original Story (Dec. 30th): Chrissy Teigen just revealed that she has been sober for four weeks, almost three months after her tragic miscarriage with her son Jack.

Chrissy Teigen showed off her dance moves in a cute video on her Instagram and one person left a comment that said:

“I need whatever drugs you’re on.”

Chrissy Teigen replied to the fan saying:

“4 weeks sober”

In 2017, Chrissy Teigen said that she couldn’t “just have one drink.” She added:

“I got used to being in hair and makeup and having a glass of wine. Then that glass of wine would carry over into me having one before the awards show, and then a bunch at the awards show.  Then I felt bad for making kind of an a** of myself to people that I really respected. And that feeling, there’s just nothing like that.”

She continued,

“You feel horrible. It’s not a good look for me, for [my husband] John [Legend], for anybody.”

“We are shocked and in the kind of deep pain you only hear about, the kind of pain we’ve never felt before. We were never able to stop the bleeding and give our baby the fluids he needed, despite bags and bags of blood transfusions. It just wasn’t enough.”

She said that they named him Jack during her pregnancy,

We never decide on our babies’ names until the last possible moment after they’re born, just before we leave the hospital. But we, for some reason, had started to call this little guy in my belly Jack. So he will always be Jack to us. Jack worked so hard to be a part of our little family, and he will be, forever.

Chrissy Teigen continues, speaking directly to her baby:

To our Jack – I’m so sorry that the first few moments of your life were met with so many complications, that we couldn’t give you the home you needed to survive. We will always love you.

She ends her message,

Thank you to everyone who has been sending us positive energy, thoughts and prayers. We feel all of your love and truly appreciate you. We are so grateful for the life we have, for our wonderful babies Luna and Miles, for all the amazing things we’ve been able to experience. But everyday can’t be full of sunshine. On this darkest of days, we will grieve, we will cry our eyes out. But we will hug and love each other harder and get through it.

Chrissy had been on bed rest and bleeding for a little less than a month.

The couple has two children, Luna and Miles, who they have said were both conceived through in vitro fertilization (IVF). This pregnancy happened naturally. We continue to send our deepest sympathy to Chrissy and John Legend.
