Dionne Warwick Defends Fan Who Was Told He Couldn’t Call Her ‘Auntie’ Because He’s White: I’m Everyone’s Auntie
Dionne Warwick wants her fans to know anyone can call her “Auntie” if they want.
The iconic singer, who’s never short of a viral moment ever since joining Twitter recently, defended a fan after a social media user said he wasn’t allowed to call her the adorning nickname.
It started when one man asked Dionne Warwick:
“Auntie, have you tried white claw?”
Another tweeter replied to him:
“Really disturbing seeing a White man call a Black woman “Auntie” You are lucky Dionne is nice. You better not try this with other Black women. How dare you? Black women are not your #MAMMY or Aunties. Only BLACK ppl can say that to each other…This isn’t the 1800s or the 1920s, White Man. Don’t you ever again refer to a Black woman as “Auntie”.”

He went on to apologize, which caught Dionne Warwick’s attention as she replied with three heart emojis.

She later added:
“Hi. This was unnecessary. He was not disrespectful. He can call me Auntie if he wants to.”“I am everyone’s Auntie.”

Dionne Warwick has no shame in defending others on her popular Twitter page. Last month, she came to Chance The Rapper’s defense after he received criticism for their new collaboration.
I’m still on a mission to end foolishness by 2021. It looks like @theweeknd and @chancetherapper are joining me. Who’s next?
