Funk Flex Says Drake Is A Better Rapper Than Jay-Z + Claims Drake Didn’t Write Infamous 2009 Freestyle
Radio personality Funk Flex has argued that Drake is a better rapper than Jay-Z.
He shared his thoughts on the two successful rappers recently and suggested that if Drake’s reference tracks hadn’t happened back in 2015, the Candian rapper would be the greatest.
“If those reference tracks would’ve never happened, Drake would’ve been my favorite artist of all time… He would’ve surpassed Jay-Z in my book.”
He then confirmed that he believes Drake, despite their issues in the past, is better than Jay-Z, but said the reference tracks are what stops Drake from being the GOAT in his eyes.
“Personal s— don’t mean nothing to me… I don’t front on the music…The reference tracks changed me… If those reference tracks did not come out, Drake was the number 1 rapper of all time…I would’ve said it, you know why? He’s too versatile, his melodies, he has the bars, and he has the songs.”
While he is clearly a Drake fan, he also alleged that Drake never wrote the iconic freestyle Drake did on his radio show in 2009, at the very beginning of Drake’s rap career. He claimed that he and Drake practiced the rap in a separate room, and Drake didn’t need his infamous Blackberry to read the lyrics. But when they got in front of the camera, he accuses Drake of pulling out his Blackberry to read the lyrics and make it look like he wrote the lyrics himself.
