YFN Lucci Surrenders To Police For Murder Charges

YFN Lucci has turned himself in to Atlanta police as he faces murder charges.

As previously reported, the rapper (real name Rashawn Bennett) was wanted by police for his alleged connection to a murder in Atlanta. Bennett is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, participation in criminal street gang activity, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

A spokeswoman for the Atlanta Police Department, Officer TaSheena Brown, told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution that he was booked late Wednesday night, Jan. 13th.

Thomas Reynolds, a lawyer in Atlanta, refused to speak on the charges Bennett is facing. Instead, he said:

“Every person has a presumption of innocence.”

On Tuesday, Jan. 13th, police offered a $5,000 reward for any information that would lead to Bennett’s arrest. Bennett released new music hours before surrendering to police.

YFN Lucci’s on-again-off-again girlfriend, Reginae Carterhas been publicly quiet about the ordeal.

The incident occurred on Dec. 10 when police received reports someone had been shot in Atlanta. When they arrived, 28-year-old James Adams was laying in the street with a gunshot wound to his head. He was rushed to Grady Hospital where he died.

Moments later, a second victim, 32-year-old Kevin Wright arrived suffering a gunshot wound and survived his injuries.

Investigators determined the two shootings as possibly related.

The 911 call for the incident has also now gone public. In the audio, a woman is heard telling police she saw a white SUV speeding “with a man hanging out of the car” before he was pushed out into the street. She also said he looked like he had been shot and tried to get an ambulance to the area as he was “still trying to fight for his life.”

She stayed at the scene and said he was “taking his last breath.” He passed away shortly after.
