Issa Rae Lands Comedy Series ‘Rap Sh*t’, City Girls Will Co-Executive Produce
Despite Issa Rae’s Insecure coming to an end, the 36-year-old actress and producer has already snagged a new comedy. According to reports, she’s executive producing a new HBO Max comedy series, called “Rap Sh*t”.
The half-hour series will follow two estranged high school friends from Miami who reunite to form a rap group. Casting is currently underway and production is set to start this summer.
City Girls’ Yung Miami and JT will serve as co-executive producers, along with Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas for Quality Control Films and Sara Rastogi for HOORAE.
Syreeta Singleton will serve as the showrunner. Issa Rae will write the pilot. Both women will executive produce.
Issa Rae recently announced that the upcoming fifth season of Insecure would be its last.
