Erica Mena Files For Divorce From Safaree Samuels After Less Than 2 Years Of Marriage
Erica Mena and Safaree Samuels are going their separate ways.
Erica Mena filed for divorce in Georgia’s Fayette County Superior Court Friday (May 21st), according to TMZ. She is said to have requested physical custody of their daughter Safire, 1, but is open to sharing joint legal custody with her now-estranged husband.
The two tied the knot in October 2019 and have showcased their rollercoaster marriage ever since.
Most recently, they announced that they are expecting their second child together. Erica Mena said in her Instagram announcement that has since been deleted,
“Marriage — It’s not easy at all. But having a family of your own makes up for it all. God I thank you for the protection and all the consistent blessings. I been through way [too] much to not be as grateful as I truly am.”
While she has now filed for divorce, she previously called out negative commenters surrounding her and Safaree Samuels’ marriage and their new pregnancy. She said in a video,
“There’s been mistakes made, immaturely, but a marriage is a marriage—and unfortunately there’s been mishaps. In any marriage, s**t happens. When you’re in the public eye, I think me and my husband have both realized, you know, that things should be kept in.”
She added,
“Nine times out of 10 it’s people who sleep on mattresses that are on the floor that have this full-on [view] of what’s supposed to be right… Half of you guys can’t even keep a man, let alone get married. Vice-versa for the men. How dare you?”

Safaree Samuels also hinted at issues between them earlier this year when. he said getting married was his biggest mistake.
