Tiffany Haddish has secured another opportunity in an upcoming biopic about an Olympic great.
Not only will Tiffany Haddish portray the phenomenal track star Florence (Flo-Jo) Joyner in the biopic, but she’ll also produce the film with her production team She Ready Productions.
With style and grace, the incomparable Florence Joyner popularized the sport of track and field with her record-breaking Olympic runs and flashy sense of style. She often turned heads with her one-legged tracksuits and long colorful nails.
Florence Joyner set many records in the 1988 Olympics, that have yet to be broken, and is still considered the fastest woman in the world.
She tragically passed away at the young age of 38 from an epileptic seizure in 1998.
Tiffany Haddish took to Twitter with a vow to do Flo-Jo’s legacy justice in the biopic. She said,
“My heart is so full Right now! I can’t even explain how hard I am going to work to honor Her Legacy!”
She also said, according to Variety:
“I am looking forward to telling Flo-Jo’s story the way it should be told-My goal with this film is making sure that younger generations know my ‘she-ro’ Flo-Jo, the fastest woman in the world to this day, existed.”
Iwanyk Economou from Game1 [part of the team of people set to assist with the production of the film], made the following statement about their partnership with Haddish:
“We are thrilled to partner with Tiffany on such an important project. Tiffany has established herself as one of the greatest entertainers in the world today-helping her tell the story of her idol Flo-Jo is an amazing honor and privilege.”
