Cardi B Threatens To Stop Promoting ‘Wild Side’ Collab With Normani Amid Criticism, Says She’ll Have Another Version Released Without Her In Deleted Tweets
Cardi B is addressing the hate she’s received for her collaboration with Normani and was even willing to remove herself from the hit single.
The ladies debuted the video for Wild Side earlier this month, and it already has more than 21 million views on YouTube.
Still, some fans weren’t here for Cardi B doing a collab, and she’s confronting them.
She first applauded Normani after the song reached #14 on Billboard’s coveted Hot 100 chart.
She then replied to a Twitter user who said Cardi’s feature should have been on the remix. The Up rapper wrote,
“Same people that says this s*** is the same people that didn’t buy s*** ,don’t request on radio, not streaming not adding no value or numbers to the song but opinions on twitter for a hit tweet cause hating but keeping up with cardi it’s what in .”
She went on to agree with a fan who wrote,
“y’all harass and provoke cardi and then act surprised if she says something in retaliation”
Cardi B replied with,
“FACTS”
She also retweeted a fan who said Cardi has been “harassed” since she first announced the link-up with Normani.
Amid the criticism, she threatened to stop promoting the song and added that she would have Normani’s people release a new version that doesn’t include Cardi B. See the series of now-deleted tweets below.
She later shared a post of her explaining her decision to do the song with Normani. She said,
“…I just want to apologize to people, maybe I took it a little bit too crazy. If you know me, if you’re one of my fans, y’all can ask my fans, I really don’t want to do features because I want all my features to go on my album. But I’m doing features on songs that I believe [in], and I love, and with artists that I love. Because I got pregnant and that slowed down my album.”
She continued,
“Doing some features with certain artists like Normani, not only do I like the song, but I fell in love with Normani…I fell in love with her situation, because I feel like she’s such a talented person. She’s really good, she’s sweet in and out. I still feel like she’s a little bit younger than me, so I feel like I wanna mentor her. I be going so hard and I be pushing so hard because I feel like she should be a super, top-of-the-line priority. She can dance, she can sing, she got the work ethic. I just feel like she’s a little younger so she just needs a little more help with the industry stuff.”
Cardi B added,
“I feel like I’ve been putting my all behind this record, and she’s been putting her all behind this record. I feel like my fans have been putting their all… I be waking up and all I see is my fans promoting, promoting. It hurts me when I get sh*tted on because I’ve been putting my all, my fans been putting [their] all, so it’s like when I get sh*tted on, I don’t even wanna argue. I’m just like ‘You know what? I’ll just take my services somewhere else.’ But that’s not fair. It’s not fair to the artists. It’s not fair to the people that actually enjoy it.”
She ended with,
“Keep on streaming ‘Wild Side’ because at the end of the day the song is amazing.”
