NFL Star Deshaun Watson Is Allegedly Being Investigated By The FBI Over Sexual Assault Accusations
The sexual assault case against Deshaun Watson may have just intensified.
According to reports, the FBI is now investigating the numerous sexual assault claims against Deshaun Watson. As previously reported, 22 women have come forward to accuse Deshaun Watson, a linebacker for the Houston Texans, of sexually assaulting them during massage therapy sessions. The alleged victims claim the incidents took place throughout 2020 and early 2021.
The revelation that the FBI was now involved came from the alleged victims’ lawyer, Tony Buzbee. During a recent interview, the attorney stated:
“Let’s be clear, when somebody comes into your office on the 73rd floor of the Chase Tower, whether they’re the FDA or the FBI, it’s a big deal. Well, it was the FBI. They contacted me and I’ve met with them three times now and now they’ve met with several of the plaintiffs in the case.”
Tony Buzbee continued, alleging the FBI became involved because the case’s specifics place it in federal jurisdiction:
“[The FBI agent] said to me, he’s like, ‘Look, what I’ve heard is that most of the reach outs occurred via the internet which creates jurisdiction for us. But then I understand there were these two women that were from out of state, which obviously creates more jurisdiction as well.'”
However, Deshaun Watson‘s attorney, Rusty Hardin, denied the claims. In a statement on the matter, Rusty Hardin said:
“I have absolutely no reason to believe that Deshaun is being investigated by the FBI. Mr. Buzbee’s comments are just part of a long, continuing pattern of just trying to harm Deshaun in the public perception. It is despicable conduct and I hope one day people will hold him accountable when the whole truth comes out.”
