Update #2 (Sept. 7): Rev. Jesse Jackson’s wife, Jacqueline Jackson, is back home after her battle with coronavirus last month.
Their son, Jonathan Jackson, said in a statement:
“Our mother is leaving the Northwestern Memorial Hospital and coming home. Our family is grateful to God and the medical team that treated her and that is allowing her body to continue to heal from the COVID-19 virus.”

Jonathan Jackson continued,

Update #1 (Aug. 30): Continued prayers for Rev. Jesse Jackson and his wife as they both continue their fight against COVID-19.
According to new reports, the activist has been transferred to a rehab center, while his wife is in ICU.
Rev. Jesse Jackson was at Chicago’s Northwestern Memorial Hospital for roughly a week before being moved to The Shirley Ryan Ability Lab.
His son Jonathan said Rev. Jesse Jackson will also be treated for Parkinson’s disease. The condition, which he was diagnosed with in 2015, is now more “in focus”amid his COVID-19 symptoms.
While Rev. Jesse Jackson’s wife isn’t on a ventilator, Jonathan said she is currently receiving oxygen treatment to help her breathe on her own.
He added,
“Both of our parents are continuing to receive excellent medical care. We urge that you continue to keep them in your prayers because we know this is a serious disease.”
He thanked supporters and said,
“We continue to receive the love that is being poured out to our family from around the world and it is greatly appreciated, as we express our love and concern for the millions of people who have been victimized by the COVID-19 virus and its variants. We know this is a dangerous disease so please remain prayerful for all of those who are suffering as a result.”
It was noted that Rev. Jesse Jackson is vaccinated but his wife is not due to a pre-existing condition.
Original Story: Very sad news. Rev. Jesse Jackson and his wife have been hospitalized after testing positive for COVID-19, according to a statement released over the weekend.
According to reports, the 79-year-old civil rights activist is vaccinated against the virus. He and his wife, 77, are being treated at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago.
A statement released from his non-profit says,
“Doctors are currently monitoring the condition of both. There are no further updates at this time. We will provide updates as they become available.”
