Candiace Dillard Claims She Didn’t Know About Mia Thornton’s Mother’s Past Struggles Before Calling Her ‘Low Budget’ + Mia Expresses Concern That Her Mom Will Relapse Due To Comments
The feud between Candiace Dillard and Mia Thornton continues!
Last night (Sunday, Oct. 11th), a new episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac debuted on Bravo. As previously reported, the prior episode ended with Candiace Dillard and Mia Thornton throwing handfuls of salad at each other while on a couples’ trip on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The incident started as a commonplace back-and-forth between Candiace Dillard and Mia Thornton, though things began to escalate when Candiace tossed a piece of lettuce in Mia‘s direction.
After the women continued to exchange words, Candiace called Mia‘s mother “low budget” for the second time. Notably, Mia‘s mother has openly shared her past struggles with drug addiction on the show, and this led the exchange to grow more heated.

Now, the situation has spilled over into the latest episode of RHOP. Candiace is removed from situation by her husband Chris Bassett, and Mia tearfully processes the ordeal with co-stars Karen Huger and Wendy Osefo. Mia emotionally says:
“She can talk about me all day long–don’t talk about my mom. My mom has worked way too f**king hard. You got to understand being a little girl who was left behind, I had to fend for myself for my entire childhood. She has never been a mother to me, but she has worked her a** off to get to where she is today.”
“Her sobriety is everything to me. I’ll be d*mned if I let a little f**king chihuahua take that s**t from her, and if my mom relapses because of that b***h she better catch my a** outside, I will tell you that. You don’t talk about anybody’s mom, what the hell?”
Later, Candiace discusses the situation with the self-proclaimed “green-eyed bandits,” Gizelle Bryant and Robyn Dixon. Candiace states that she didn’t know about Mia‘s personal situation with her mother:
“I didn’t know. And I learned later and I saw the hurt in her face, but did she see the hurt in my face? Questions that need answers, I don’t know.”
In response, Gizelle Bryant notes that Mia had been crying badly, to which Candiace replies:
“Was she crying badly? Was she really?”
Then, in her confessional, Candiace claims:
“If I had known about Mia’s mama trauma, and her traumatic childhood, I would have just–you know– read her big-a** hands or her feet or something. I wouldn’t have talked about her mom.”
