Kim Kardashian Slammed By Nicole Brown Simpson’s Sister For Joking About O.J. Simpson Murder Case In ‘SNL’ Monologue
Kim Kardashian recently stirred up some drama with Nicole Brown Simpson‘s family!
As you may recall, Kim Kardashian hosted Saturday Night Live this past Saturday (Oct. 9th). The 40-year-old reality star reportedly received input from ex-husband Kanye West ahead of her hosting gig, and her appearance notably helped boost SNL‘s ratings.
During her monologue, Kim Kardashian made one joke that involved a reference to her late father, Robert Kardashian Sr., and O.J. Simpson‘s murder trial. In 1994, Nicole Brown Simpson—O.J. Simpson‘s ex-wife–was stabbed to death outside her L.A. home with a man named Ronald Goldman. O.J. Simpson was the prime suspect in the case, and Robert Kardashian Sr. was a part of the former NFL star’s defense team. O.J. was ultimately found not guilty. However, the case is considered a highly divisive subject for many, with some believing O.J. got away with murdering Nicole Brown Simpson.
While hosting SNL, Kim Kardashian stated:
“I’ve been very lucky in life and I know that I’m privileged, which is why I try to give back as much as I can. A real passion of mine is getting wrongly accused people out of jail. I think I’m following in my father’s footsteps.”
She continued:
“My father was and still is such an influence and inspiration to me, and I credit him with really opening up my eyes to racial injustice. It’s because of him that I met my first Black person. Wanna take a stab in the dark at who it was? I know it’s sorta weird to remember the first Black person you met, but O.J. does leave a mark–or several! Or none at all, I still don’t know.”
Since Kim‘s hosting gig, Tanya Brown—Nicole Brown Simpson‘s sister–has expressed her disapproval of the monologue. According to recent reports, Tanya Brown said the jokes were “in poor taste” and “beyond inappropriate and insensitive.” She also brought up that Kim‘s mother–Kris Jenner–was actually good friends with Nicole Brown Simpson, further adding to her shock over the matter. Tanya Brown also reportedly found it disappointing to hear the SNL audience applaud and laugh at Kim Kardashian‘s dark jokes.
Despite Tanya Brown‘s comments, Kim Kardashian has not publicly addressed the backlash on social media. O.J. Simpson has also remained silent on the matter.
