Vanessa Bryant Will Not Have To Take Psychiatric Exam In Lawsuit Against L.A. County Over Helicopter Site Crash Photos
Update #1 (Nov. 2): Vanessa Bryant will not be ordered to undergo a psychiatric evaluation in her lawsuit against L.A. County, a judge ruled.
According to court documents filed yesterday (Monday, Nov. 1), Magistrate Judge Charles F. Eick determined the evaluation would be “untimely.”
Original Story: According to a new report, Kobe Bryant’s widow Vanessa and other family members may be forced to submit psychiatric exams by Los Angeles Count. The request is in relation to their legal dispute over photos of the helicopter crash scene that took her husband and daughter’s lives.
Reportedly, the request stems from a legal point: Did Vanessa Bryant and the others suffer emotional distress because photos of their dead relatives were shared by county fire and sheriff’s department employees after the crash? Or was the emotional distress only from the crash itself?
L.A. County argues that the crash itself is the cause. Vanessa Bryant is suing for invasion of privacy and negligence after county employees improperly shared photos of human remains at the crash site. The county contends that its employees did not publicly disseminate any accident site photos.
The famed NBA legend and his daughter, Gianna, sadly died in a January 2020 crash with seven others.
No additional details have been released.
