‘Judge Judy’ Bailiff Receiving TV Offers After Revealing He Wasn’t Asked To Be A Part Of Court Show Reboot
The bailiff, Petri Hawkins-Byrd, from the popular court show ‘Judge Judy’ might be coming to your TV screens again soon! The series ‘Judge Judy’ premiered in 1996 and, after 25 seasons, ended in July of this year. As previously reported, Judith Sheindlin, famously known as Judge Judy, landed a new court show ‘Judy Justice’ on IMDB TV, which is set to premiere on Nov. 1.
However, despite being on Judith Sheindlin’s original series for its entire run, Petri Hawkins-Byrd wasn’t asked to join the TV personality for her latest endeavor. Earlier this month Petri Hawkins-Byrd shared how disappointed he was that he wasn’t asked to join the judge for her upcoming project. He said,
“My assumption is if you were going on to do something else, that you were at least going to ask me if I wanted to have the opportunity to audition for the role.”
He continued,
“[Judith Sheindlin] informed me I was not being asked to come along on the project. I didn’t inquire as to why, that’s her choice. But she did inform me that, fundamentally, I was priced out as the new bailiff on her new show. My salary would have been too much. I was curious: How would she know? She didn’t ask me. She didn’t give me an opportunity to have accepted a lower salary.”
He added,
“I don’t think she understood how confused and dismayed I was after being there for 25 years, from the beginning of her career, and not being at least given the opportunity to say whether or not I wanted to continue that relationship.”
Even though Petri Hawkins-Byrd won’t be joining the ‘Judy Justice’ project it looks like he’s not done with court TV just yet. According to reports, his manager is having ongoing conversations with TV producers who are currently working on a new court TV concept. In addition to that, another producer reportedly made an offer for the well-known bailiff to be a part of their project, with room for negotiation.
Reports allege that Petri Hawkins-Byrd isn’t actively seeking a new court show but he will be considering any offers that come his way.
