Will Smith Tried To Date ‘Fresh Prince’ Co-Star Karyn Parsons While They Worked Together: She Told Me Hell No
Will Smith appears to be thankful that his ‘Fresh Prince’ co-star, Karyn Parsons, refused to date him when they were younger.
Sometimes when shooting your shot you’re going to get turned down and famed actor Will Smith, 53, is no exception to that rule. In his new recently released self-titled book Will Smith reveals that he wanted to date his Fresh Prince co-star Karyn Parsons, who portrays Hilary Banks on the series. The two actors’ characters are cousins on the popular 90s sitcom. However, despite not being related in real life, Will shares in his book that Karyn Parsons, 55, wasn’t interested in dating him. The ‘Summertime’ rapper writes,
“She was smart enough to tell me ‘hell no’ when I tried to explain we were not really cousins, so it would be fine if we dated. ‘[I said], I swear it won’t mess up our working relationship.’ She knew better than that – good call, K.P.”
Will doesn’t seem to be holding anything back as he shares his truth in his memoir ‘WILL.’ As previously reported, in the book he also speaks on a time when he considered killing his father, Willard Carrol Smith Sr., to avenge his mother. He writes,
“That when I was big enough, when I was strong enough, when I was no longer a coward, I would slay him. I paused at the top of the stairs. I could shove him down, and easily get away with it.”
He continues,
“I’m Will Smith. No one would ever believe I killed my father on purpose. I’m one of the best actors in the world. My 911 call would be Academy Award level. As the decades of pain, anger, and resentment coursed then receded, I shook my head and proceeded to wheel Daddio to the bathroom.”
Will’s parent’s separated when he was 13 years old and divorced in 2000. His father passed away years later in 2016.
