[CONDOLENCES] Malcolm X’s Daughter Malikah Shabazz Found Dead At 56

One of Malcolm X‘s six children has sadly passed away.

Yesterday (Monday, Nov. 22nd), Malikah Shabazz–one of Malcom X‘s daughters–was found dead in her Brooklyn, New York home at the age of 56. Malikah Shabazz‘s daughter is the one who discovered the body, and the official cause of death has not yet been disclosed–though it has reportedly been deemed

“not suspicious.”

Malikah Shabazz and her twin sister, Malaak Shabazz, were still in utero when Malcolm X was murdered at 36 years old. They were subsequently raised by their mother–Betty Shabazz–alongside their older sisters: Attallah Shabazz, Ilyasah Shabazz, Qubilah Shabazz, and Gamilah Shabazz.

It’s also worth pointing out that this news comes less than a week after two men convicted of assassinating Malcolm X were exonerated. Back in 1965, Muhammed Aziz and Khalil Islam were convicted for the murder, though both men maintained their innocence for decades. While Khalil Islam passed away back in 2009, both he and Muhammed Aziz were officially cleared of any wrongdoing earlier this month–getting their convictions overturned as a result.
