Designer Virgil Abloh Dies At Age 41 After Privately Battling Cancer
Very sad news. Virgil Abloh has died at age 41. The news was shared on the Off-White designers social media page and noted that over the past two years, he privately battled cancer. The statement said,
“We are devastated to announce the passing of our beloved Virgil Abloh, a fiercely devoted father, husband, son, brother, and friend.”
Virgil had “a rare, aggressive form of cancer” called cardiac angiosarcoma. The family added,
“Through it all, his work ethic, infinite curiosity, and optimism never wavered. Virgil was driven by his dedication to his craft and to his mission to open doors for others and create pathways for greater equality in art and design.”

Virgil was known for his work as the artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s menswear collection, as he was the first black person to have this role.
He was also the chief executive officer of the Off-White label.
