Victoria’s Secret Annual Fashion Show Canceled This Year, According To Super Model Shanina Shaik

Have the world-famous angels lost their wings? Australian Victoria’s Secret lingerie model, Shanina Shaik, recently dropped a bomb about their intimate brand’s annual televised fashion show. Shanina revealed in an interview that the angels may not be sporting their wings on TV this winter, due to the show being canceled. She said:

“Unfortunately the Victoria’s Secret show won’t be happening this year. It’s something I’m not used to because every year around this time I’m training like an angel. But I’m sure in the future something will happen, which I’m pretty sure about. I’m sure they’re trying to work on branding and new ways to do the show because it’s the best show in the world.”

The CEO of Victoria’s Secret’s parent company, L Brands – Leslie Wexner – hinted at a looming cancellation, citing that a drop in viewers would force them to make changes. She said:

“[My colleagues and I] have decided to re-think the traditional Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Going forward we don’t believe network television is the right fit.”

The Victoria’s Secret fashion show’s viewership may be attributed to transphobic comments made by the brand’s chief brand executive. In the age in inclusivity, he declared that he was against including transgender models in their runway show. He said:

“It’s like, ‘Why doesn’t your show do this? Shouldn’t you have transsexuals in the show?’ No. No, I don’t think we should. Well, why not? Because the show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special. That’s what it is. It is the only one of its kind in the world, and any other fashion brand in the world would take it in a minute, including the competitors that are carping at us. And they carp at us because we’re the leader.”

An apology was later issued, however no further comments nor announcements have been made regarding the cancellation of the fashion show. Meanwhile, 28-year-old Shanina Shaik has been seen on Instagram linking up with a few of her fellow Victoria’s Secret angels.
