Cedric The Entertainer Says Dave Chappelle Will ‘End Up Cancelling Himself’ + Defends Travis Scott Amid Astroworld Backlash: He Got A Very Hyped Show
Cedric the Entertainer is sharing his thoughts on two very controversial figures: Dave Chappelle and Travis Scott.
Yesterday (Monday, Dec. 20th), Cedric the Entertainer appeared on celebrity publicist Domenick Nati‘s radio show, The Domenick Nati Show. At the beginning of the 40-minute episode, Cedric the Entertainer shared his thoughts on Dave Chappelle and his transphobia controversy from earlier this year.
Specifically, after Domenick Nati asked if Dave Chappelle is “un-cancellable,” Cedric the Entertainer responded:
“I think that you just gotta be watching. Once you feel you’re un-cancellable, and you think that that’s what you’re fighting for, that’s the wrong approach to take to say something that you really wanna say. Not in the sense that ‘Oh, can’t nobody cancel me so Imma say that I wanna day.’ You can find out–people will cancel your a**.”
He continued:
“He will end up cancelling himself if he feels like nobody can cancel him. That’s what happens–you end up getting in people’s head in a way to where they turn you off. And it ain’t so much about everybody else turning you off. It’s people just deciding like ‘Dawg, if you think you’re bigger and better than everybody and you literally start believing that, then people start to go like ‘Well f**k you.”
Cedric the Entertainer then added:
“That’s a slippery slope in this world we live in, and I feel like people are concerned that he’s trying to go over the top right now.”

Shortly thereafter, the 57-year-old comedian proceeded to speak on another controversial figure: Travis Scott. Specifically, Cedric the Entertainer shared his thoughts on whether Travis Scott should be held liable for the Astroworld tragedy, and he stated:
“In that particular scenario, I looked at some of the videos. I mean, the police right there. That’s their job. I’m a performer–so I find it hard that people are trying to cancel Travis, I find it rude that people are trying to blame him, saying he should’ve stopped… He got a very hyped show.”
He continued defending Travis Scott, adding:
“I’m just feeling energy, and only when I recognize that that energy is negative will I be able to stop… If it’s poppin’, it’s poppin’. People turn up man, and that’s just what it is. So I don’t really like that people try to blame him… He didn’t incite it.”
