Donald Glover Explains Why He’s Ending ‘Atlanta’ Series: Things Start To Get Weird
Atlanta is coming to an end, and Donald Glover is not mad at it.
While discussing the final days of FX’s hit show Atlanta, show creator Donald Glover admits that he’s been waiting on the show to end, and says things got weird and conditions were no longer right for the show to continue.

In a recent panel for the Television Critics Association, 38-year-old multi-talented award winning writer, actor, and musical artist Donald Glover attributed the series end to inevitability, unaligned conditions, and story completion.
During the panel Donald stated:
“To be honest, I wanted to end it at Season 2. Death is natural … When the conditions are right for something, they happen, and when the conditions aren’t right, they don’t happen.”

He continued:
Things start to get weird … you can’t do too much. The story was always supposed to be what it was and the story, it really was us.”
Staple cast members Brian Tyree Henry and Zazie Beetz also commented on the show ending, noting they were glad to know the end was coming and why they feel four seasons was good enough.
Zazie Beetz, 39, who portrays Donald Glover’s ex-girlfriend and love interest Van stated:
“I’m glad I knew it was ending because then I could lean into the relationships knowing this was my last chance to play Van.”

She continued:
“I think Van changed my life. I’m glad I had the opportunity to … put [her] in the back for now.”
Brian Tyree Henry, 39, gave his thoughts on the future of his rapper character Paper Boi, and discussed why he considers four seasons a good completion.
“That’s the great part of coming to an end — it’s in the ethos. It’s up there. You can imagine anything you want to.”

He continued:
“You go to high school, it’s four years. You go to college, it’s four years. This is in our own essence like a graduation.”
Atlanta’s final season is set to premiere on FX March 24th and will follow the crew on Paper Boi’s European concert tour.
