‘If Beale Street Could Talk’ Actor Stephan James Set To Play Iconic Artist Jean-Michel Basquiat
Actor Stephan James, 28,–best known for his performance in If Beale Street Could Talk has landed a new role!
The Canadian actor is set to star as iconic artist Jean-Michel Basquiat in a limited TV drama. The series will be set during the 1980s in New York City and will showcase the career of Basquiat–from his start as an obscure graffiti artist to him becoming a Neo-expressionist painter of legendary status. It will also explore Basquiat’s close friendship with iconic artist, Andy Warhol and his ultimate demise.

Steve Lescroart, president of scripted for Boat Rocker Studios had this to say about the upcoming project,

In his own statement, Stephan James expressed his excitement in being able to portray the legendary artist.

To embody such a revolutionary, whose influence in the modern era of pop culture is simply immeasurable, will simply be one of the greatest honors of my career.”
