Pusha T Becomes Emotional As He Speaks About His Parents Passing 4 Months Apart: I’m Still Grieving, They’re Good I Know It

Continue to send prayers up for Pusha T.

The “Daytona” artist got emotional in a recent interview while discussing the grief of losing both of his parents months apart from each other.

Pusha T’s mother, Mildred Thornton, passed away from unknown circumstances in November of last year. In March of this year, the rap artist announced the passing of his father, Gene Elliott Thornton. While sitting down with The Breakfast Club host Charlamagne Tha God, Pusha T, born Terrence Thornton, shared how he’s coping with the emotional ordeal. After being asked how he deals with grief, Pusha T, 44, took a deep sigh and answered:

“I think the one thing that’s helping me deal with grief right now – my parents passed four months apart – I just know I was good with my parents, both of them, like really good.”

He continued:

“I grieve selfishly, I’m grieving now.”

The “If You Know You Know” artist attempted to collect himself before going on, However, he was seemingly overrun with emotion. With tears in his eyes, he added:

“They alright, I know it”

Charlamagne then asked Pusha T about his legacy, and if it’s changed following his parents passing. He responded:

“I think so man…I think so.”

The “Mercy” artist briefly paused the interview to ask for tissues and to take a moment to process his emotions.

As previously reported, Pusha T announced earlier this year that he was parting ways with Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. music label to start his own named Heir Wave Music Group. The rap artist also recently announced tour dates for his first album to be released under his label It’s Not Dry Yet (INDY), which will begin in May of this year.

We continue to pray for Pusha T and his family during this time.
