Queen Naija Reacts To Resurfaced Colorist Remarks: I’ve Never Been That
Five years later, Queen Naija is still facing backlash for controversial comments that some feel were colorist remarks.
A snapshot of an exchange has resurfaced on the internet showing Queen Naija, 26, telling a social media user to shut up and take a bleach bath. The interaction took place following the R&B singer stating in a video that black nappy-headed girls used to bully her. The colorism backlash comes shortly after Queen Naija crowned herself as “The Joke of Twitter,” due to thousands of people using her name to trend as jokes on Twitter for what she could be blamed for.

Before the fame, Queen made troublesome comments about black women. In a YouTube video with ex-husband Chris Sails, she can be heard sharing her experience of getting bullied growing up. She stated,
“Not to be funny but it seem like always lil black nappy-headed — I’m sorry y’all but it seem like lil nappy headed girls would bully me.”
Despite the many times she has apologized and addressed her actions as taken out of context, cancel culture has not let up on the YouTube star-turned-R&B sensation. On April 21, Twitter users clapped back at Queen after she called out social media trolls for “harassment, bullying and hate speech.” She said,
“It’s not even a joke anymore, at this point it’s harassment, bullying and hate speech. I would start suing y’all, but there’s no point cause y’all are broke.”

One user seemingly wasted no time reacting to the presumed colorist. The user tweeted,
“LMFAOOO girl shut up.”
The mother-of-two replied,
“that’s all you can say cause you’re a broke bully.”
The Twitter user fired back with claims that the “Hate Our Love” singer is a colorist, sparking even further debate to her Twitter mentions.

Another user responded to Queen’s post, this time with receipts of her “bleach bath” comments. She claps back and acknowledges the fact that she was only trying to defend herself for someone calling her dirty, advising them to take a bleach bath to cleanse themselves, not to bleach their skin.

Continuing to go back-and-forth against Twitter trolls, Queen calls out cyberbullies as a reason for suicide, while also recognizing her strength.
“y’all are the group of ppl who would drive
someone into committing suicide. it’s all fun & games tho. Good thing I was built for this.”

Eventually, Queen decided to get back to the money, calling her naysayers “jobless” and “lame.” She also adds that although she’s faced criticism for years, nobody has ever said anything to her face, and apparently never will.

Ending things off on a positive note, Queen wrapped up her series of tweets revealing she will be performing the national anthem at the Atlanta Hawks game for the playoffs on April 22.
