Regina King’s Cousin Shares Update On Actress Following The Loss Of Her Only Child, Ian Alexander

It’s been a few months since the tragic loss of Regina King’s only child, Ian Alexander Jr. and it appears the Oscar-winning actress has been keeping a pretty low profile.

While we haven’t heard much from Regina King as of late, her cousin, Lawrence Cain Jr., did share a message with fans regarding the entertainer on Sunday (May 8) for Mother’s Day. He posted a screenshot image of himself seemingly on a facetime call with his famous cousin and asked fans to continue to pray for her. He wrote,

“Seeing Cuzzo smile made today complete. Continue to pray for the mother’s who are living without their children.”

As previously reported, on January 22 news broke that Regina King’s son, Ian Alexander Jr. died by suicide. He was the actress’s only child, whom she shared with her ex-husband, record producer Ian Alexander Sr.

In a statement at the time, Regina King had this to say about her son:

“Our family is devastated at the deepest level by the loss of Ian. He is such a bright light who cared so deeply about the happiness of others. Our family asks for respectful consideration during this private time. Thank you.”

Following his tragic death, fans went to his social media accounts and noticed cryptic messages and posts Ian shared just days before taking his own life. On Jan. 14 around 10 pm Ian Alexander, Jr. tweeted,

“You know that episode of SpongeBob where they go inside his brain and it’s a bunch of mini spongebobs just losing their sh*t…..yea that one really hits home”

He continued with a follow-up tweet the same night and said,

“I don’t think Instagram is healthy for me”

Ian, who seemingly didn’t use Twitter often, shared a few questionable tweets back in 2020 as well.

We continue to send our condolences and prayers to Regina King and her family.
