While families continue to grieve following the devastating shooting at Robb Elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, the family of one of two teachers shot and killed have just been struck with more heartbreaking news.
Joe Garcia, whose wife was one of two teachers killed in Tuesday’s mass shooting, has reportedly died of a heart attack. His wife, Irma Garcia, reportedly died trying to protect the children in her classroom.
According to reports and confirmed by family, Joe Garcia suffered a fatal heart attack due to the grieving of his wife. The Garcia’s alleged nephew confirmed the news in a post to Twitter. He wrote,
“EXTREMELY heartbreaking and come with deep sorrow to say that my Tia Irma’s husband Joe Garcia has passed away due to grief, I truly am at a loss for words for how we are all feeling, PLEASE PRAY FOR OUR FAMILY, God have mercy on us, this isn’t easy.”

Irma and Joe Garcia were high school sweethearts married for 24 years. They leave behind four children. A GoFundMe has been set up to help the family.
As previously reported, 18-year-old Salvador Ramos armed with an AR-15 rifle opened fire in Irma Garcia’s fourth-grade classroom this past Tuesday (May 24).
The gunman killed 19 children along with two teachers, Irma Garcia and Eva Mireles. Salvador Ramos was killed on the scene by law enforcement officers upon their arrival.
