Dave Chappelle, 48, announced the show on Wednesday (June 1) and the tickets sold out in an hour. The event took place on Sunday (June 5) in Buffalo, NY at Shea’s Performing Arts Center.  The venue seats 3,000 people which gave Dave Chappelle the opportunity to make a sizable donation to the families of the victims fatally shot in the city’s supermarket on May 14.

On stage, Chappelle announced he’ll be giving the money he made from his ticket sales back to the Buffalo families affected by the tragedy.

Shea’s Performing Arts Center director of marketing and communications, Kevin Sweeney recalled:

“[Dave Chappelle] said, and I’m paraphrasing, ‘I came here to Buffalo to recognize the victims and for these families.’”
