Chris Brown Says ‘That’s Cap’ As He Slams Michael Jackson Comparisons: Hell Nah, I’m Not Better Than Michael Jackson
Chris Brown is shutting down the Michael Jackson comparisons he often receives!
While Chris Brown has had a successful career spanning over 15 years, the 33-year-old singer/actor isn’t too fond of being compared to his idol, the late Michael Jackson. During a recent interview with radio host Big Boy, 52, Chris Brown shared his thoughts on the ongoing comparison and addressed people who even go as far as saying he’s “better” than Michael Jackson. Chris said,
“That’s cap. That is cap!… I stay the hell up out of it. I kinda back off it. My personal take on it, is like I wouldn’t even be breathing or even being able to sing a song if that man didn’t exist.”

He continued,
“I don’t know if they look at it as the Kobe [Bryant], [Michael] Jordan thing, but I can’t even look at it, he’s lightyears ahead–there is no competing with him. Hell nah, I got shrines of this man hanging up in my house. Hell nah, I’m not better than Michael Jackson.”

When asked how it feels to be “that guy” in the music industry that gets compared to others, Chris Brown replied,
“My fearlessness allows me to be like, ‘cool I don’t care what they say or how it will look. I’m gonna dance, I’m gonna do this’..I feel like my learning capability never shuts off. So I think when I wanna do music, or different dancing, I don’t let it hinder me.
Chris continued,
“I think seeing Michael do that first–kinda was like, ‘okay, I can do it.’ People want to compare me but it’s the generational gap.”
Michael Jackson–often dubbed ‘The King Of Pop’– sadly died in 2009 from cardiac arrest, caused by a propofol and benzodiazepine overdose. He is regarded as one of the most significant cultural figures of the 20th century. With a career spanning over four decades, his contributions to music, dance, and fashion, along with his publicized personal life, made him a global figure in popular culture.
Michael Jackson has influenced several artists across many music genres, more notably, Chris Brown, Usher, and Justin Timberlake.
