“Untrapped: The Story Of Lil Baby” reflects on Lil Baby’s journey in the hip-hop industry and his personal life. Rapper Lil Baby, born Dominique Armani Jones, was raised in the streets of Atlanta before being sent to prison in 2015. He was released in 2017 when he realized it was either rap or the streets.
Karam Gill stated:
“This project has been in the works for several years now, during some of the most difficult times our country has faced. I couldn’t be prouder of the entire filmmaking team and the continued collaboration between Quality Films and MGX Creative to create another meaningful project that sheds light on larger societal issues. Lil Baby is someone who truly defied the odds, and I hope his story can bring positivity into our world.”
On Sunday (June 19), Prime Video released an exclusive clip from the documentary on Father’s Day. The clip revealed some of the rapper’s childhood memories with his estranged father.
Lil Baby says:
“Family is more important to me than anything. I dont ever see me leaving my kids. I don’t want to be no holiday dad and not just talk to you.”
Lil Baby explains:
“My dad kinda stayed out of town. He was like a, I see him every now and then, a couple times a year. I can’t really say to this day the situation he and my mama had. So, I don’t just have the father-son relationship, that I would want, or I feel like I should have had.”
he continues:
“My son asks me stuff like that. Like ‘you used to do this with your daddy?’ And my answer is like ‘no.’ I want him to understand that everybody don’t be having that growing up. I ain’t have it.”
Lil Baby adds:
“He tells me that I want to do everything you do. Like ‘I wanna do what you do.’ That means the most to me, like, I take that sh*t serious.”
