Nicki Minaj – Prosecutors Recommend 15 Months Of Prison Time After Husband Kenneth Petty Failed To Register As A Sex Offender In California
Prison time could be in the near future for Kenneth Petty, the man who is married to and shares a child with Nicki Minaj.
Kenneth Petty, who neglected to register as a sex offender in California, is expected to serve six months in jail followed by a year of supervised release—which would be spent at the mansion he shares with Nicki Minaj. But prosecutors do not think being restricted to a mansion with a pool, a music studio and a nicely landscaped backyard in a gated community is an adequate sentence.

Instead,
“The government respectfully requests that the Court sentence defendant to a low-end Guidelines sentence of 15 months imprisonment, five years supervised release, a mandatory $100 special assessment and a $55,000 fine.”
Following the attempted rape conviction of a 16-year-old girl he attacked in 1994 in New York City, Kenneth Petty is required to register as a sex offender in every state where he resides. He was reportedly well aware of the rules, and had been keeping up with his sex offender registry paperwork for nearly 20 years—until he met Nicki Minaj.
In a recent filing, prosecutors said,
“Having previously been convicted of attempted rape, defendant knowingly failed to register as a sex offender upon moving to California.”
They added,
“The timing of [the] defendant’s lapse in registration is concerning, given that it occurred when [the] defendant began dating his wife, quit his job, moved to Los Angeles, and adopted an affluent lifestyle.”
As previously reported, the 1994 case resurfaced after the victim Jennifer Hough claimed Nicki and Kenneth had been calling her and attempting to get her to retract her statements. She claims the harassment started after the pair got together in 2018, which prompted her to file a lawsuit against the couple.

Minaj was eventually removed from the lawsuit, but the one against Petty remains. They both deny Jennifer Hough‘s allegations.
Kenneth is scheduled to be sentenced July 6.
