Rhode Island Senator Tiara Mack Responds To Backlash After Twerking On TikTok In Bikini
A state senator is facing backlash after a TikTok of her twerking went viral.
Rhode Island State Senator Tiara Mack is facing a lot of scrutiny on social media after posting a video of herself on the 4th of July, twerking in a bikini on a beach.
The video, shared to TikTok, went viral and sparked many people, including other politicians, to chime in.

Lavern Spicer, a Black woman and Republican candidate running for Congress in Miami, Florida responded to Mack’s viral clip on her Twitter account, saying:
“@MackDistrict6 just disgraced herself and disgraced every Black woman running for public office.”

Mack responded by writing “right back at ya girl.”
She also took to her TikTok account to respond to reply to numerous comments scrutinizing her twerking.
One user said they “don’t ever wanna hear” Mack complain about how “women aren’t respected in this country.” She replied, saying:
“Honey, baby – this ain’t it. Because I have an Ivy League degree, and I’m sitting state senator. It’s not about what I’m wearing, it’s not about what I’m doing. They won’t respect me regardless.”
She also tweeted out several things she thinks the media could focus on instead.
“Can the media also cover the 10+ bills I sponsored that the @RISenate never scheduled for a hearing?”
“Can the media cover any policy wins had by the youngest Black state senator in Rhode Island?”
