Playboi Carti Pays Tribute To The Late Virgil Abloh W/ A New Tattoo

Virgil Abloh’s untimely death has seemingly left a lasting effect on the hip-hop community.

Recently, an image of Playboi Carti’s new tattoo surfaced online which displays a tribute to fashion mogul Virgil Abloh, who passed away in November 2021 following a private battle with cancer. The tattoo is located on Playboi Carti’s left forearm above his elbow. It is an outline of Virgil Abloh’s face from the 2021 Met Gala in New York City.

Playboi Carti, 25, and Virgil were close friends. The Atlanta rapper was given the opportunity to model at various fashion shows executed by Virgil. Carti previously took the runway alongside Kid Cudi, Steve Lacy, and others at Virgil’s first menswear collection released in 2018 for Louis Vuitton.

Rappers such as Drake, Kanye West, and Kendrick Lamar have paid their respects to their friend Virgil in their music and performances.

As previously reported, Kendrick Lamar sat front row and simultaneously performed at Louis Vuitton’s Fashion Show in June. Kendrick Lamar dedicated his performance to Virgil.

The 35-year-old also paid homage to the late designer during his Superbowl half-time performance as he wore Louis Vuitton from Virgil’s postmortem Fall/Winter 2022 collection.
