Jay-Z Says ‘Ownership In A Sports Team Is Only Natural For Us’ While Sharing Aspirations Of One Day Being A Majority Owner Of A Professional Team
Hip hop icon Jay-Z has his future business career goals set on the sports industry!
While visiting comedian Kevin Hart’s unscripted talk show series Hart To Hart, the entertainment mogul discussed his future plans to own a sports team. Jay-Z, born Shawn Carter, has vastly transcended rap, which was his initial launch into stardom. So it’s not surprising that the 52-year-old billionaire envisions himself conquering other industries in the future.
After Hart asked Jay-Z if there was anything next for him to conquer, the “Family Feud” artist stated:
“All of these things are just extensions of what we really love. We love to drink champagne we get a champagne company. We love to talk about sports we start a sports bar. So you know, ownership in a sports team is only natural for us….Cause that’s what we love”

The rap giant continued on to clarify that he doesn’t immediately have plans to pursue the loft goal, but reaffirms it’s something he’ll eventually go for. Similarly, Jay-Z’s fellow billionaire entertainer, NBA star Lebron James, recently spoke about desiring to own his own sports team. The Lakers giant revealed on his talk series The Shop that he plans to one day start his own NBA team based in Las Vegas. Presently, the dessert city doesn’t have a professional basketball team in the NBA.
Should the day come when Jay-Z achieves his sports team ownership goals, it will just be another industry under the entertainer’s belt. Other industry ventures from the mega star include cannabis, literature, production, and most recently crypto-currency. Earlier this month, Jay-Z launched a collaborative Bitcoin Academy class with Twitter founder Jack Dorsey. The course was offered to residents of his hometown in Brooklyn.
