Reality TV Star Honey Boo Boo, 16, Wants To Make Sure It’s Not ‘Gonna Kill Me’ As She Contemplates Weight Loss Surgery
Alana “Honey Boo Boo“ Thompson definitely wants to lose weight, but she’s not completely sure of the process it’ll take to do so.
The 16-year-old reality TV star is still undecided about going through the discomfort of an endoscopic suture sculpt procedure with weight-loss surgeon Steven Batash. Her weight will drop from about 275 pounds to 150 pounds after the $13,000 operation. Many people were first introduced to Alana Thompson during her time on the TLC kids beauty pageant series Toddlers & Tiaras.

While speaking about her weight loss surgery concerns, Alana Thompson said,
“I just wanna make sure that this is actually something I wanna do before I just go and do it. I wanna make sure that it’s, like, not something that’s, like, gonna kill me.”
And while she acknowledges the fact that there are much easier ways to lose weight—including exercising and eating healthy—she has no motivation to do those things and is fine taking the “easiest way” out. Alana Thompson said,
“I know for a fact I could get in the gym and I know for a fact I could diet and I know for a fact I can do this to lose my weight. I’ve tried. I will say I’ve tried, but the one thing with me is I have no motivation. I have no motivation to just keep going to the gym every day.”
She continued,
“I have no motivation to keep eating healthy because, like, I’m gonna eat what I think is good. I’m not [gonna] sit there and force myself to eat no Caesar salad because I think it’s healthy. No. I’m gonna eat what I think’s good. So, I just think I don’t have motivation, and I feel like the surgery would be, like, probably the easiest way to just, like, lose it fast.”
While Thompson is contemplating her next move, both her mother and sister, Lauryn “Pumpkin“ Shannon, have both gone under the knife—though neither maintained the transformation. Mama June Shannon lost 300 pounds after having gastric sleeve surgery in May 2016 and later undergoing a tummy tuck.

Thompson believes the surgery will help change her lifestyle, though, as her manager said she will lose 100 pounds instantly. While she knows she will have the support of her loved ones, including her boyfriend of almost two years Dralin Carswell, she remains undecided, as she’s afraid of having surgery and going under anesthesia.
Thompson said,
“I just think, like, it’s them putting me to sleep for me. I’m just so nervous. Like, what if I don’t wake up? What if something goes wrong? I’m so nervous about the pain too. Me and pain are not good. Like, pain is not my friend.”
