Movie star Angelina Jolie recently celebrated her daughter Zahara’s epic college choice!

The Eternal’s actress announced the exciting news on her official Instagram page earlier today (July 31st), revealing her daughter, Zahara Jolie Pitt, will be attending Spelman College this fall. Zahara, 17, is the adopted daughter of divorced celebrity couple Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. The pair have been in an ongoing divorce battle since splitting back in 2016.

Posting a pic of Zahara with other incoming Spelman freshmen, Jolie wrote:

“Zahara with her Spelman sisters! Congratulations to all new students starting this year. A very special place and an honor to have a family member as a new Spelman girl.”

In video footage that surfaced simultaneous to the announcement, it seems the Oscar-winning actress recently attended a Spelman event with her teenage daughter. Jolie can be seen blushing as she joins a crowd for the electric slide, before getting some sweet high fives for her effort. The user who posted the video wrote as a caption:

While Jolie and her ex-husband, fellow movie star Brad Pitt, tend to keep a low profile in general, it seems Pitt was not in attendance at his daughter’s college event. According to reports, the former couple is still in negotiations over asset allocations from their 2016 split. The pair called it quits after 2 years of marriage, with reports claiming Pitt allegedly stepped out on Jolie with actress Marion Cotillard. Though neither Jolie nor Pitt ever confirmed the rumors.

Zahara’s enrollment at Spelman will undoubtedly bring more awareness to the historic university. She joins an elite group of celebrities who have committed themselves to spending money at HBCU’s and inspiring attendance. With her mother’s prior involvement and efforts for better world social justice, such an intentional decision makes sense. Jolie is proud ambassador for the UN, and often advocated for topics on women and children empowerment worldwide.
