Lil Durk Says He’s Taking A Break After Onstage Explosion At Lollapalooza Causes Eye Injury
Prayers up for rap star Lil Durk.
The Chicago native was in his hometown this past Saturday (July 30th) performing at the Lollapalooza music festival when he was reportedly struck by two onstage explosives. Video footage of the incident shows Lil Durk, born Durk Derrick Banks, wiping his face after being blasted by smoke during the performance. Though the seriousness of the injuries is unclear, the 29-year-old rapper says he’s going on a break to focus on recovery.

According to reports, Durk was performing his collab record with Pooh Shiesty titled “Back In Blood” when he seemingly entered a part of the stage with scheduled pyrotechnics. As seen in the video, following the mishap, the DJ stops the music while the musician took a moment to collect himself. Durk seemed all good at the moment, continuing his performance and finishing off his set.
However, it seems his injury was greater than he let on. Earlier today (July 31st), the “What Happened To Virgil” artist updated fans about the injury. Accompanied with a picture of his bandaged eye, Durk posted to his Instagram:
“Due to the incident that happened at Lollapalooza in Chicago on stage, I’ma take a break & focus on my health. I finished my performance yesterday for my fans. Appreciate y’all”
