In a recent interview, actor John Boyega admitted that he’s not interested in being a part of the Marvel movies. John Boyega said:
“That’s not in the vision for me now.”
John Boyega shared:
“I want to do nuanced things…I want to donate my services to original indie films that come with new, fresh ideas, because I know it’s real hard to top ‘Iron Man’ in that universe.”

Boyega’s agent, Femi Oguns, said her client’s goal as an actor is “to disrupt the industry and also to make history.” Femi Oguns continued:
“For John, it was never about trying to fit into the box. He wants to be the outline of the box.”
Throughout his career, Boyega avoided playing enslaved people and drug dealers in movies to “disrupt” the system for Black actors and actresses.
Femi Oguns added:
“For John, it’s all about accountability. He doesn’t want to be defined by any stereotypical roles.”

The internet claimed on numerous occasions that Boyega was joining the Marvel team. In 2021, a rumor alleged the 30-year-old appeared in the Captain Marvel sequel titled The Marvels. Back in May, a rumor circulated that Boyega filmed a secret Marvel role.
The Breaking actor would be handed his second Disney-backed franchise by joining Marvel’s team following his role as Finn in three Star Wars movies but his attention appears to currently be on indies.
