‘Grey’s Anatomy’ Star Ellen Pompeo To Appear In Only 8 Episodes Of Upcoming Season, Actress Will Focus More On New Hulu Series
Ellen Pompeo is taking a step back from her iconic “Grey’s Anatomy” role after landing a new gig with Hulu.
The 52-year-old actress will reportedly continue her role as Meredith Grey on the medical series, appearing on eight episodes for season 19, and will continue on the show as executive producer for the upcoming season.

According to reports, Ellen Pompeo’s reduced appearance on the medical drama as Meredith comes as she takes on a limited series at Hulu. The actress will star in and executive produce an eight-episode limited series, “Untitled Orphan Project,” for Hulu.
Ellen Pompeo believes that the long-running series could continue without her, per reports. During an interview earlier this year, the “Grey’s Anatomy” star said,
“Trying to reinvent the show and continually trying to reinvent the show is the challenge at this point, and listen, the show speaks to a lot of people, and the young people love the show. It’s inspired so many generations of healthcare workers, so, I think for the young people, it’s a really good piece of content and we’re going to try to keep it going for the young people, not necessarily with me, but keep it going beyond me.”
Pompeo landed her first major role in 2005 on the ABC series. “Grey’s Anatomy” is the longest-running scripted primetime show on ABC, having been on the air since 2005.
