‘RHOBH’ Star Kathy Hilton Faces Backlash After Mistaking Lizzo For ‘Precious’ Star Gabourey Sidibe: It’s The Fatphobia & Racism For Me

Kathy Hilton is seemingly not good at recognizing famous Black faces!

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star Kathy Hilton made a cringeworthy mistake on Wednesday night’s (Aug. 10) episode of Watch What Happens Live. While playing a game of “Will Kathy Know Them?” with talk show host Andy Cohen, Kathy Hilton, who is the mother of famous socialites Paris and Nicky Hilton, confused mega pop-star Lizzo for actress Gabourey Sidibe. 

In the now-viral video clip, Andy Cohen shows Kathy Hilton a photo of Lizzo and asks if she knows who the “Truth Hurts” singer is. Kathy confidently replies,

“I feel like I do, ‘Precious?'”

The embarrassing mix-up threw everyone in the studio into hysterics. Trying to help Kathy Hilton save face, her ‘RHOBH’ co-star, Crystal Kung Minkoff adds, 

“She is precious, though. Lizzo is precious.” 

Seemingly understanding her major faux pas, Kathy takes the help and tries to play off the awkward moment. She claims,

“That’s what I call [Lizzo]! Her nickname is ‘Precious’ to me,”

As you may remember, Gabourey Sidibe, starred as the fictional character Precious in the 2009 Oscar-nominated film Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire.

While Lizzo and Gabourey Sidibe are both extremely talented curvy black women, that is where the similarities end. Following the moment, Twitter lit up with thoughts about the mix-up. Most people are shocked and disgusted that Black people are still being confused for one another in 2022.
