Sherri Shepherd Says Oprah Winfrey & Ellen DeGeneres Both Inspired The Structure Behind Her Upcoming Talk Show
Sherri Shepherd gets her inspiration from major legends in talk-show history.
Sherri Shepherd’s new talk show is set to premiere on September 12 on FOX, and she shares that media moguls Oprah Winfrey and Ellen DeGeneres are incorporated in the structure behind her show. Sherri Shepherd said:
“A little bit of Ellen.”
Shepherd added:
“A little bit of inspiration of Oprah, a lot of the laughter of Ellen and put that together, and then you got Sherri and I am like, let’s go!”
Shepherd named Lizzo, Michelle Obama and Michael B. Jordan as dream guests on her upcoming daytime talk show. The 55-year-old will be filming her show in front of a live audience at the Big Apple’s Chelsea Studios. According to reports, the program will feature,
“a daily dose of pop culture, comedy, conversations and a plentiful supply of daytime talk staples, including celebrity and human interest interviews.”
The Chicago actress and television personality has been in the process of moving to New York City for the talk series.
As previously reported, Shepherd’s new series “Sherri” will take over the time slot for The Wendy Williams Show, which ended on Friday (June 17) after 14 years. Producers for Wendy Williams’ show hired guest hosts like Shepherd to step in while Wendy Williams was absent from her iconic purple chair as she battled Graves’s disease (an autoimmune disorder). Shepherd stated she hasn’t heard from Wendy Williams since hosting the finale of her talk show. She said:
“I wish everyone well and I’m really focused on launching the Sherri show on September 12th.”
Back in May, Williams shared her feelings about Shepherd’s new show during an interview on Instagram Live with rapper Fat Joe. She said:
“I like her, but I won’t be watching her because I know what she’s going to be doing and that’s really not my thing.”
Shepherd later responded to Williams’ comments. She said:
“I would say that everyone should be praying for Wendy right now, I’m truly concerned for her because I don’t feel like there’s anybody over there protecting her.”
