The Weeknd Apologizes To Fans After Cancelling Concert Mid-Song Due To Strained Vocal Chords: I Can’t Give You The Concert I Want To
Fans of pop star The Weeknd were left disappointed after his most recent concert.
The “I Can’t Feel My Face” singer was performing that very Billboard hit, prior to announcing he would not be able to continue his sold out performance. During the second concert held at the Sofi Stadium in Inglewood, California this past weekend (September 3rd), The Weeknd explained to fans he’d lost his voice mid performance, going on to promise attendees they’d be refunded and that he’d return for a makeup show.

After a three song performance, the Grammy award winning artist took the stage, stating:
“I can’t give you the concert I want to give you right now….I’m going to make sure everyone is good, you’ll get your money back….I’ll do a show real soon for you guys.”

Continuing, the 32-year-old musician apologetically told fans he wanted to be the one to tell them personally, stating:
“I wanted to come out and personally apologize and not tweet it or Instagram it. I wanted you guys to know that I can’t give you what I want to give you. I apologize. I’m so sorry.”

According to reports, many fans were unsure how to grapple with the news. Reports state that concert goers didn’t leave their seats for a significant period of time after the artist broke the news. However the singer dropped a follow up message to his Twitter page shortly after, confirming the end of the show. He wrote:
“My voice went out during the first song and I’m devastated. Felt it go and my heart dropped. My deepest apologies to my fans here. I promise I’ll make it up to you with a new date.”

At this time the severity of The Weeknd’s vocal issues is unknown. However following concert dates on Ticketmaster for the remainder of the month have been rescheduled or canceled.
We hope he has a speedy recovery!
