According to reports, the siblings who filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against comedians Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears dropped the civil action on Tuesday (Sept. 20) after stating the family has “put this behind us.” A woman and her younger brother, who filed their names as John and Jane, accused Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears of coercing them into making sexual skits for a short film when they were minors. Yesterday (Sept. 20) “Jane Doe” who represented herself in the federal civil case, filed a notice of dismissal with prejudice, so the suit can’t be re-filed. The filing included a statement from the plaintiff reading:
“My family and I have known Tiffany Haddish for many years – and we now know that she would never harm me or my brother or help anyone else do anything that could harm us. We wish Tiffany the best and are glad that we can all put this behind us.”

As previously reported, the siblings filed a lawsuit in a California federal court against Haddish and Spears on Tuesday (Aug. 30). The lawsuit accuses the comedian duo of allegedly teaching a 14-year-old girl and her seven-year-old brother how to perform sexual acts for a skit in 2013. The siblings claim they now live a traumatized life and the brother alleged he was molested by both defendants.

Reports state that in one of the videos the girl was asked to perform a suggestive act with a sandwich and in another video, her brother was depicted as the object of a pedophile’s obsession. Haddish allegedly played the boy’s mother and Spears played the “pedophile.”
Spears, 47, thought of the lawsuit as an extortion case. He previously shared:
“Listen, this is an extortion case. This is a shakedown. And I didn’t need my lawyer to tell me this to say this, but you know I’m going to act on her words… We won’t be shaken down. And believe me it’s bothering me not to talk about the skit ‘cause Andy and I have been talking about it and there’s some very valid things I feel like I have to say or want to say, but just can’t at this time.”
The New Jersey native continued:
“I’m no coward. I’m not running from anything and I’m not guilty of anything. It’s the reason why I won’t turn my mentions off on my Instagram. It’s the reason why I’m not deleting any of my old posts.”
He added:
“It’s paining me to do so cause I’m a fighter not a runner. My character’s being assassinated. Again, I want to address the skit especially, but I just can’t.”
Haddish previously responded to the allegations on social media. The 42-year-old actress said:
“I know people have a bunch of questions. I get it. I’m right there with you. Unfortunately, because there is an ongoing legal case, there’s very little that I can say right now. But, clearly, while this sketch was intended to be comedic, it wasn’t funny at all – and I deeply regret having agreed to act in it. I really look forward to being able to share a lot more about this situation as soon as I can.”
