Diddy Clarifies Previous Statement Calling Kanye West A ‘Free Thinker’ For Controversial ‘White Lives Matter’ Design, Music Mogul Urges Fans ‘Don’t Wear The Shirt’

Diddy doesn’t agree with Ye’s (formerly known as Kanye West) questionable ‘white lives matter’ apparel.

Hip Hop heavyweight Diddy, real name Sean Combs, is setting the record straight on his recent remarks over Ye’s latest ‘white lives matter’ stunt. As previously reported, Ye is in the hot seat yet again after debuting a ‘white lives matter’ t-shirt at his YZY SZN 9 presentation in Paris on Monday (October 3). Several models including Selah Marley, the granddaughter of reggae legend Bob Marley, were seen wearing the top, and the move has since sent tongues wagging from Vogue to The New York Times.

On a recent episode of The Breakfast Club, Diddy labeled Ye a super free thinker for the fashion debacle, adding that the fashion mogul’s radical thoughts were often just misconstrued. After Diddy’s long-winded response, media personality Charlamagne noted his reluctance to call Ye out.

However, in a video uploaded to the Bad Boy boss’ Instagram page late Wednesday (October 5) night, Diddy made it clear where he stands concerning the shirt. He said,

“I am not about to be addressing every last thing that’s going on in the world on the internet but the thing I do have to address is this ‘white lives matter’ t-shirt. I’ve always been there and I will always support my brother Kanye as a freethinker. But the ‘white lives matter’ t-shirt, I don’t rock with it, you know what I’m saying? I’m not with it.”

Diddy then highlighted the systemic oppression still holding Black America back and doubled down on his disapproval of the design:

“Right now all America has planned for us is poverty, incarceration, and death. So before I can get to any other lives matter—which all lives matter—that Black Lives Matter, don’t play with it. Don’t wear the shirt. Don’t buy the shirt. Don’t play with the shirt. It’s not a joke.”

Just last month, Diddy showed support for Ye, pledging to boycott Adidas over their sour relations with the “Gold Digger” rapper.

In a text message thread between the two, Diddy wrote:

“Please can you send me something I can post in support of you! [I’ll] never wear Adidas again for the rest of my life if they don’t make you right!”

Ye responded:

“Praise God. Love you.”
