Nicki Minaj Reacts To UC Berkley Offering A Course Studying Her Influence, Will Be Offered Next Spring

Rap star Nicki Minajs influence has just reached collegiate status!

According to reports, the University of California Berkley will be offering a college eduction course next semester, studying the hip-hop giant’s cultural influence. The course, named “Nicki Minaj: The Black Barbie Femmecee & Hip Hop Feminisms” will reportedly

“encourage students to think about how Minaj’s impact on the hip-hop music industry connects to the broader historical-social structures and hip-hop feminisms”.

Nicki Minaj, 39, subsequently expressed interest in attending the year long course.

After a Minaj “Barb” account made the musician aware of the course, the “Do We Have A Problem” artist immediately expressed interest in attending. Responding to the announcement she wrote:

“I’d love to stop by” 

Subsequent, the college professor who developed and will teach the curriculum chimed in with more details about the course. She wrote:

“i’m so excited to be teaching AAS 140.2: “Nicki Minaj: The Black Barbie Femmecee & Hip Hop Feminisms” this spr 2023 @ uc berkeley. we would be hella happy & honored for u to stop by!” 

And continued:

“this class is interested in thinking critically about u and ur productions w/in the context of broader historical-social structures & hip hop feminisms. so having yo personal insights would be AMAZING! i’m finalizing things this fall & would love to talk more details w/ u via DM?”

Minaj has certainly made her mark in the music industry. With over 100 million records sold, she holds the title of best selling female rapper of all time. The Trinidadian musician has released 4 studio albums and amassed over 30 billion Youtube views alone. Additionally, Minaj is on the list of top 20 most followed celebs with 202 million on Instagram, and another 26.5 million on Twitter.

The ten time grammy nominated rapper has won over 300 of the 580 musical nominations she’s received. During her career breakout, Minaj received the BET award for Best Female Rapper seven years consecutively. Recently, the mother of one celebrated her most recent single, “Super Freaky Girl”, going #1 on the Billboard hot 100, marking her 21st top 10 Hot 100 hit, with 124 entries in total.

Minaj joins a short list of other notable celebs who have inspired college courses. Others include Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Jay Z, Kanye West, Diddy and Lady Gaga.
