Howard Stern Criticizes Oprah Winfrey For ‘Showing Off’ Her Lavish Lifestyle & $2.5 Billion Wealth On Instagram: You Gotta Be A Little Self-Aware

Controversial radio host Howard Stern is accusing Oprah Winfrey, both 68, of flaunting her wealth on social media.

During a recent episode of his radio show, Howard Stern spoke about how the media mogul “loves showing off” her wealth and is “not embarrassed by” it.

Stern said,

“It’s f*****ng mind-blowing when you follow her on Instagram. You see her estates, her gardens, the people who service her.”

His co-host Robin Quivers interjected,

”Service her? She’s not a car.”

Howard Stern rebutted,

“Well, she kind of is. She’s got servants and like people cooking and it’s f ***ing wild.”

According to Forbes, Oprah Winfrey has a net worth of $2.5 billion, which is seemingly due to a combination of her talk show success, TV shows, and brand ambassadorships.

Stern went on to say the famed talk show host “knows” how to be rich and “likes” to show it off. He added,

“Which is something I’m not comfortable with. I don’t think that people should show off their wealth.”

His co-host then challenged his statement.

“Oprah’s just showing you her life. She’s not showing off.”

However, the self-proclaimed King of All Media didn’t agree and said her posts lack self-awareness.

“You gotta be a little self-aware and know that there are people struggling out there, Robin. You got to. You gotta kind of think about people who don’t have — to eat. You know what I’m saying? I mean, come on. You gotta be a little bit aware of this.”

Despite the harsh criticism, Stern did pay Winfrey a compliment by applauding her charitable work with The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls – her South African school – and the fact that she invites the students to her house for Thanksgiving.

Stern said,

“Every Thanksgiving she welcomes the African gals at her boarding school in Africa for girls — I guess whose parents abandon them. And she takes them in and they call her like “Mama”… and all the African women come up to her estate and they start singing.”

He continued,

“I think [the girls] believe Oprah’s God because she gives them an education. She gives them meals, don’t ask. They love her. And it’s impressive. I gotta be honest. I mean, it’s real charity work.”

The Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls was established in January 2007, with Oprah investing $40 million into the school, which features state-of-the-art classrooms, computer and science laboratories, a theatre, and more.

The school has a reported current enrollment of 450 pupils.
