Coolio Died Without Will In Place To Divide His Fortunes, 7 Children Likely To Obtain Estate As Beneficiaries
Iconic rapper Coolio sadly passed away earlier this year, and he left no will.
Reports state that Coolio, who rose to fame with the release of his hit song, “Gangsta’s Paradise,” died without a will in place to dictate how he wanted to divide his fortunes up among his large family. Coolio, real name Artis Leon Ivey Jr., died intestate, meaning he had no will.

Reportedly, a probate has been filed by his former manager to begin the process of appraising the late rapper’s estate. Coolio’s seven adult children are also listed as the next of kin and probable beneficiaries.
The value of the Coolio Estate is said to be over $300,000, which seemingly includes “personal property and demand deposit accounts, financial accounts, insurance policies and royalties,” according to reports. The exact amount has not yet been determined.

As previously reported, Coolio passed away on Wednesday, September 28, while visiting a friend’s house. According to his manager, he went to use the restroom and when he didn’t return or answer to his name being called, the friend walked in and saw Coolio lying on the floor. Although no formal cause of death has been disclosed, it is believed he went into cardiac arrest. Coolio was 59 at the time of his death.
According to Coolio’s long-time partner, Mimi Ivey, the rapper told his family he wanted to be cremated and he did not want a funeral. Mimi Ivey shared,
“I’m respecting his wishes. He wanted to be cremated. He did not want a funeral; he did not want a memorial service. He didn’t want any of that.”
