Cardi B Responds To Naysayers Claiming She’s Too Rich To Complain About Increasing Food Prices: ‘You Gonna Go Broke Soon Because Y’all Not Budgeting’
Cardi B doesn’t care how much money she makes, she’s tired of paying seven dollars for lettuce!
As prices continue to increase in grocery stores, Cardi B recently took to Twitter to vent about inflation. On Tuesday (Jan. 3), the Grammy Award winner wrote:
“Naaaaaa grocery shopping prices are ridiculous right now. You might as well eat outside !!”
In a follow-up tweet, Cardi B, born Belcalis Cephus, shared a clip from “Love & Hip Hop” where fellow rapper Remy Ma can be heard stating, “this is where I’m starting to get aggravated.” Alongside the video, Cardi wrote:
“B*tch why lettuce cost 6 dollars where I live at ?“

It didn’t take long for the internet to call out the “Money” rapper for seemingly ranting about something she can easily afford. However, according to Cardi, checking the prices on everything is how she stays rich! In a newly-posted response video, the 30-year-old entertainer said:
“Let me tell y’all something. When I be complaining about food prices and y’all m*th*rf*ck*rs be like ‘ain’t you rich why you complaining about lettuce? why you complaining about this –?’ that’s just goes to show me when you become successful, when you have money, you gonna f*ck*ng, you gonna go broke soon because y’all not budgeting.”
She continued:
“I get a summary of the money that’s being spent in my home every week. So when I’m starting to see that like groceries is like, tripling up it’s like, aye yo, what the f*ck is going on? I wanna see for myself what the f*ck sh*t is being spent on.”

The mother of two explained:
“When I go to f*ck*ng supermarket, like, I went to the supermarket, I’m seeing that everything tripled up. Lettuce was like two dollars a couple of months ago and now it’s like f*ck*ng seven, of course Ima say something, the f*ck!”
She added:
“‘Cause if I think that sh*t is crazy, I could only imagine what middle class people or people in the hood is m*th*rf*ck*ng thinking. So yes I’m going to say something the f*ck, and I have a big platform so I do want anybody that’s responsible of these f*ck*ng prices to put that sh*t the f*ck down. They gon’ see my sh*t they might put it down. So shut the f*ck –”

A fan agreed with the rapper but replied that food inflation won’t go back to normal because of a simple “request” from Cardi. The Bronx native quoted the tweet, claiming awareness may fix the issue. She wrote:
“Not necessarily cause of me but if we bring enough awareness to inflation you never know.”
