Sheryl Lee Ralph & Jackeé Harry Speak On Keeping Their Egos In Check + Jackeé Reveals In The Past She ‘Wasn’t Nice’ To Now-Famed Producer/Creator Kenya Barris: He Reminded Me Of It
Sheryl Lee Ralph and Jackeé Harry are reflecting on their years in Hollywood and the many lessons they have learned along the way.
During a recent sit-down with Essence, the two icons talked about their experience in the entertainment industry and how keeping your ego in check will pay off in the long run. In their sit-down, Sheryl Lee Ralph stressed the importance of being kind to people because you never know who they may turn out to be years down the road. One prominent example she gave was screenwriter and producer Mara Brock Akil, who used to deliver coffee to the “Abbott Elementary” star many years ago. Sheryl Lee Ralph explained
“How many times has the young person that has brought me coffee turned out to be the producer in the next five to 10 years?”

She continued,
“Mara Brock Akil brought me coffee at ‘Moesha’ and I’m so happy I was nice to her because she’s a big time producer now.”
As Ralph continued to make her point, Jackeé Harry interjected and admitted that she was once rude to now-famed producer/show creator Kenya Barris.
She revealed,
“You know who used to bring me my scripts for ‘227′ to my door and deliver them? Kenya Barris. I wasn’t nice to him. See, look at me now. I ain’t lying, and he reminded me of it. He said, ‘Do you remember?’ And wait — ego — I don’t remember…But it was the ’80s.”
