Don Lemon Criticized For Questioning Prince Harry’s Decision To Air Out Family Drama: Hey Don, Are You Okay w/ Someone Being Abused?
Don Lemon is making headlines.
The co-anchor of “CNN This Morning” began trending on social media after asking if Prince Harry‘s decision to publicize his family drama is justified. In Don Lemon‘s opinion, the Duke of Sussex sharing details of a physical assault by his older brother, Prince William, wasn’t necessarily the right thing to do — because people “have arguments” with their family members.
He said,
“I don’t know. Everyone has a family. I have arguments in my family. Am I going to put that out there for the whole world to see? I just don’t understand why on Earth he would want to put that out there. I know he’s selling a book but to me, it’s just not done.”
Don Lemon added,
“It’s gauche to me. That’s the word.”

Although there have been many stories and speculations regarding the relationship over the years between the brothers — especially since Harry married former actress Meghan Markle in 2018 — the Duke of Sussex has now addressed all in his new book.
In one excerpt of the book, titled “Spare,” Harry claimed his older brother attacked him while the two were arguing over his wife. He recalled,
“[William] set down the water, called me another name, then came at me. It all happened so fast. So very fast. He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor. I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”
And social media users are not here for Lemon criticizing the Harry‘s decision to go public with the abuse he suffered.
One Twitter user said,
“If my brother would smash me in my own home, would insult my wife and leak shit about me all over to smear us, yes I would. I would also snitch about all his affairs. I would ruin him. Harry is allowed to tell his own story. After 38 years of others doing so for him.”
Another user added,
“You know that’s the same shaming that family places of survivors of CSA and other forms of familial abuse: ‘deal w/ as family, not out in public.’ It’s a tenant of white patriarchy. Don should be ashamed of himself for this.”
According to another user,
“Don Lemon of @CNN said that this kind of abuse should be kept private. He is very concerned about appearances versus the well-being of those being abuse. Don wants Prince Harry not to share the physical abuse he endured. #Spare #SparebyPrinceHarry”
Another Twitter user added,
“So @donlemonthinks talking about trauma and abuse is gauche? Hey Don, are you okay with someone being abused? I guess all of the men and women abused around the world who open up about their experiences are also gauche? #WilliamIsAnAbuser and #WilliamIsABully”
