During their conversation, Kevin Hart, 43, got candid and shared his views on the price of being a celebrity. The famed actor said,

“The biggest drug. It’s not cocaine, it’s not heroin, it’s fame. Anything you want, everything you want, it’s a thing. And if you can’t handle this thing, the consequences attached to when that thing is removed are severe. Are you at a point where you are okay? Do you know you? And are you okay with you? If you are not, it’ll break you.”

Hart explained,

“It’s like a monster. My monsters have been masked in disguise in various different ways but I’ve been able to pinpoint them throughout the years because some of those monsters got stronger … developed. You’re talking about the world of an ego. The idea of who you think you are versus what you are or the idea of expectations and needs as to what you feel you need and what you have to have.”

He continued,

“That’s a monster that’s feeding that engine of, well, now that I’m making money, this is what I should have, this is how I should look, this is how I’m supposed to be. That’s a monster that you’re feeding because ultimately you’re buying in.”

Hart is originally known as a stand-up comedian, but over the years, he’s built a notable acting career. He has also released several well-received comedy albums.

After winning several stand-up comedy competitions, Hart reportedly had his first breakthrough when he was cast in a recurring role on the TV series “Undeclared” (2001). He has since had roles in films such as “Scary Movie 3” (2003), “Soul Plane” (2004), “Little Fockers” (2010), “Think Like a Man” (2012), “Ride Along” (2014), “Ride Along 2” (2016), the “Jumanji” film franchise (2017–present), “Night School” (2018), and many more.

As previously reported, Hart mentioned that the comedy industry has changed over the years. He noted that he feels like he needs to be more cautious with his jokes, but doesn’t necessarily mind doing so as he continues to learn and grow. He shared,

“Let’s be honest, I think there was a lot of changes that were needed and necessary, right? And I think being aware is something we should all prioritize. Just being aware. We’re learning to better understand each other, and in doing so, respect should be attached to that.”

Hart added,

“Now, there is a heightened level of sensitivity. There is a heightened level of opinion in today’s time because social media has presented the world with a bunch of platforms so people can express themselves and how they feel. So now the things we didn’t hear on a regular basis you are hearing. The conversations you may not have been aware of, well, you are hearing because they’re all happening in real time.”
